Reasons to live in Huntington Beach

Top Reasons to live in Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach is located in northwestern Orange County, 35 miles south of Los Angeles and 95 miles north of San Diego.  It is the third largest city in Orange County, the 11th largest city in California. Huntington Beach hugs the Pacific Ocean with nine miles of spacious, sandy beaches. Huntington Beach is also home to one of the largest pleasure piers in the world. The city's park system includes 58 public parks and the largest city-owned and operated regional park in Orange County -- Huntington Central Park. Also within the city's boundaries are three miles of equestrian trails, school playgrounds, a city gym, a seniors' recreation center, two golf courses, 72 tennis courts, a marina, and a protected wildlife preserve.
Huntington Beach, also known as "Surf City", it is BEST known for its scenic pier, miles of beautiful beaches for relaxing and ocean waves that have been immortalized in surfing songs. With some of the finest weather in the world, this old fashioned beach town attracts people who could live any place on earth!
1. Park your car for the weekend.  This is probably the nicest beach bike trail in the Los Angeles area. The Huntington Beach trail is 8 miles long starting at Sunset Beach and ending at the junction of the Santa Ana River and Newport / Balboa trails. It passes such landmarks as the Huntington Beach pier and Bolsa Chica wildlife preserve. Surfers, free open air concerts and great sights are commonplace. The entire Huntington Beach bicycle trail is oceanfront.
2. Great social life. Downtown Huntington Beach Main Street is the hub of action for the City's beach dining, shopping and nightlife activities. This 5 block, two-lane stretch of pavement from 6th Street to Pacific Coast Highway is filled with lights, people, cars, sounds, food fragrances and excitement. My favorite restaurant downtown would have to be Luggatti’s Italian Grill. Good food, a great wine selection and live music on Friday and Saturday make it a fun and inviting atmosphere.
3. Kid friendly. On Tuesdays from 5 – 9 PM, downtown Main Street comes alive with the sounds of live music, street performers, a farmer’s market, and activities for the kids, specials from our downtown restaurants and sidewalk sales from our downtown retailers. Surf Cit Nights. The community-spirited event will continue each Tuesday throughout the year, thanks to the warm response from the community.
4. Four legged friends paradise. Dogs can roam free in Dog Park, and get a chance to play with other dogs their size. There are two sides to Dog Park: one for small dogs and puppies, and one for large dogs. Dog Park also has a dog-walk-of-fame, snacks and seating for dog owners. There is also a stretch of beach for our four legged friends. Dog Beach is located on Pacific Coast Highway between Seapoint Ave, and 21st Street. Dog Beach is over one mile of pooch-paradise, where canines go to “unleash” hour’s worth of running, playing, swimming, digging, barking, sunbathing and, often times, even surfing!
5. Parks make life Better. There are 71 parks and public facilities, totaling 752 acres, 169 playground apparatus, and irrigation systems. My favorite would have to be Central Park which is 45 acres and home to the nicest sport complex, Shipley Nature Center, Adventure playground, onsite equestrian center, Frisbee golf and the Amphitheater. Easy to spend the whole day at Central park!
6. Huntington Harbor in the northern portion of Huntington Beach encompasses five manmade islands bounded by a network of navigable channels and the land surrounding them. Its waterways are lined with beautiful multi-million dollar homes, boat docks, yachts and the popular Duffy boats. Try taking a yoga class on a stand up paddle board (SUP)!
